Verbos en inglés: dos liberaciones y un reto nuevo

Los verbos en inglés tienen buenas noticias y un reto inesperado. La buena noticia: la conjugación es radicalmente más simple que en español — casi no cambia por persona. El reto: los phrasal verbs, combinaciones de verbo + partícula que crean significados completamente nuevos y no tienen equivalente en español. Más el caso especial de to be, que absorbe tanto ser como estar en una sola palabra.

Los verbos be, have, do, go son la base de la conversación en inglés. Aparecen en cada oración — no solo como verbos principales, sino como auxiliares para formar preguntas, negativos y tiempos compuestos. Domina estos cuatro y entenderás la estructura del inglés.

Diferencias críticas con el español
Ser/Estar fusionados
Inglés tiene UN solo verbo (be) para ser y estar. ‘I am happy’ puede traducirse como ‘soy feliz’ o ‘estoy feliz’ según contexto.
‘Do’ como auxiliar
El español no usa auxiliar. ‘¿Te gusta?’ = ‘Do you like it?’. El ‘do’ es OBLIGATORIO en preguntas/negativos con verbos comunes.
Edad con ‘be’
‘Tengo 25 años’ → ‘I am 25 years old’, no ‘I have’. Inglés usa ‘be’ para edad.
‘Going to’ = ‘voy a’
Futuro cercano: ‘I’m going to study’ = ‘Voy a estudiar’. Es la traducción más directa del futuro español con ‘ir a’.
