quick → quickly
slow → slowly
perfect → perfectly
beautiful → beautifully
slow → slowly
perfect → perfectly
beautiful → beautifully
Excepción: good → well (no goodly).
She always sings. · ✓
antes del verbo principal
She is always late. · ✓
después de to be
She sings always. ✗
fairly / quite — bastante
very / really — muy
extremely / absolutely — extremely
fairly / quite — bastante
very / really — muy
extremely / absolutely — extremely
pretty en EEUU = bastante (no bonito).
still · yet · already
still
= todavía (afirmativo) · antes del verbo
I still practice every day.
She still loves that song.
She still loves that song.
La acción continua que esperabas que parara.
yet
= todavía / ya (preguntas / negativos) · al final
Have you listened yet?
I haven’t started yet.
I haven’t started yet.
Solo en preguntas y negativos. Siempre al final.
already
= ya (afirmativo) · antes del verbo principal
I’ve already heard it.
She already knows the words.
She already knows the words.
Fortunately, it worked.
Unfortunately, she left.
Obviously, he knew.
Unfortunately, she left.
Obviously, he knew.
Honestly, I don’t know.
Clearly, it’s working.
Surprisingly, it’s easy.
Clearly, it’s working.
Surprisingly, it’s easy.
Truco para well vs good: good es adjetivo (describe sustantivos), well es adverbio (describe verbos). «She sings well» ✓ · «She sings good» ✗ — aunque es muy común en inglés coloquial americano.
Focus contiene palabras como just, only, even que parecen simples pero tienen múltiples usos.

01
►
rápido / rápidamente→quick / quickly
natural / naturalmente→natural / naturally
claro / claramente→clear / clearly
frecuente / frecuentemente→frequent / frequently
02
►
ella canta rápidamente→she sings quickly
ellos cantan rápidamente→they sing quickly
ella aprende fácilmente→she learns easily (no -a, no -s)
03
Los adverbios de frecuencia (always, never, often, sometimes, usually) van antes del verbo principal, pero después de ‘be’.
►
siempre canto→I always sing
nunca llego tarde→I never arrive late
soy siempre feliz→I am always happy (be primero)
04
Good describe sustantivos. Well describe verbos y acciones. Este error lo cometen incluso los nativos.
►
tiene una buena voz→she has a good voice
canta bien→she sings well
practica bien→she practices well (no: practices good)
05
Still = algo que continúa.
►
todavía practica→she still practices
¿ya terminaste?→have you finished yet?
todavía no terminé→I haven’t finished yet
ya lo sé→I already know it
06
Actually es el falso amigo más común. NO significa “actualmente” (= currently). Significa en realidad o de hecho.
►
actualmente vivo en Miami→I currently live in Miami (no: actually)
en realidad me gusta→I actually like it
de hecho es fácil→it’s actually easy
07
Eventually NO significa “eventualmente” (occasionally).
►
eventualmente la veo (a veces)→I occasionally see her
al final lo entendí→I eventually understood it
finalmente llegó→she eventually arrived
08
Too tiene dos significados según su posición. Al final = también. Antes de adjetivo = demasiado.
►
yo también amo esto→I love this too
está demasiado alto→it’s too loud
ella también canta→she sings too
está demasiado rápido→it’s too fast
09
►
feliz / felizmente→happy / happily
fácil / fácilmente→easy / easily
ruidoso / ruidosamente→noisy / noisily
enojado / enojadamente→angry / angrily
10
►
solo música→just music
acabo de llegar→I just arrived
exactamente bien→just right
solo dímelo→just tell me
11
►
0% — nunca→I never miss practice
~25% — a veces→I sometimes sing in English
~75% — normalmente→I usually warm up first
100% — siempre→I always record myself
12
►
honestamente, no sé→Honestly, I don’t know
obviamente es difícil→Obviously, it’s hard
afortunadamente funcionó→Fortunately, it worked
claramente tiene talento→Clearly, she has talent
13
►
incluso habla inglés→she even speaks English
ni siquiera lo intentó→she didn’t even try
incluso mejor que antes→even better than before
14
►
trabaja duro→she works hard (no: hardly)
corre rápido→she runs fast (no: fastly)
llega temprano→she arrives early (no: earlly)
hardly = apenas, no ‘duramente’→I hardly sleep = casi no duermo
15
Evita “very very” — usa extremely.
►
muy bueno→very good
realmente increíble→really amazing
bastante difícil→quite hard
tan bueno→so good
bastante fácil (informal)→pretty easy
16
►
She works hard for the money→hard modifica works (adverbio)
I’m never gonna give you up→never → adverbio de frecuencia
She always finds a way→always → antes del verbo finds
